In memory of the Oklahoma City bombing, every year Oklahoma City hosts the memorial marathon.

Crown Heights-Edgemere Heights is home to Gorilla Hill - a favorite water stop for both the full and half marathons. The neighborhood gets decked out in balloon arches, bananas are passed out to runners, and support for runners is seen on hundreds through neighborhood spectators.
